India :
It was a cold winter day in Munich in Feb 2008 where I was attending the DLD Conference and bumped into the founder and Editor of TechCrunch Michael Arrington. Michael and I had some interesting discussions and finally spoke about the startup scene in...

First of all, great review Vishal. And thanks for the support.

In terms of Michael and TC coming to India, I am not sure. Michael has been a guy who keeps things close to his space - perhaps the reason why TC never has quite taken off in the UK?

DEMO has a strong reason and also the desire to come to india, since they have already scaled to other geographies, but they need to get the price point right.

There is much that needs to change - even from an events perspective. We have to start bringing in entrepreneurs and minds from across the region and even from the valley, so that we dont have to go to the valley. Proto.in still has some way to go - but thats the interesting bit :)
Vishal - Thanks a lot. Hats off to the Proto volunteers for going out of their way to help us...and to the Proto community.

Next event will be bigger, better (More Science Fiction) and you’re going to help us get there!

in my view, u hate indians from abroad doing VC, PE and other investments (as per your post http://www.godinchief.com/entry/abcds-the-poison-pill-for-indian-startups/) - but now you want arrington to invest in the startup event scene in India. Don’t you have competent people like vijay, sudhakar, and the headstart guys and a brand proto/headstart to take care of this enuff?

u know thats the problem i have with Indians like you - do you know that a durbaan salutes to a ’gora’ walking through the double doors of Taj but fails to acknowledge a desi walking by? go figure the pun, mister.

being opinionated is good, playing contradictory is a suckers bet. hope now u know how to play that hand.

@srini looks like you have not understood or remember a word of what i have written to refresh your memory

1. ABCD - I beleive thy are not good for Startup or Seed stage funding...($0 to $100k) infact I want them to come and invest in PE and other large ticket deals where they can make the most use of their time and expensive overheads.

2. I have said Proto.in is the KING of startups events in INDIA and the best.... we need other international players to come to India to raise the bar for Proto.in and the startups which attend it and benefit the entire ecosystem.

Dont know how you have arrived to your conclusion ?
